The Local Area
The area around Altinkum is full of history and the nearest site is the famous Temple of Apollo, with examples of architecture dating back as far as 500 BC. Visit at night and see it lit up.
Ephesus is the largest and most complete ancient city in the eastern Mediterranean and includes the Temple of Artemis which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. If you have a car you can easily drive there or book one of the organised trips.
Still within reasonable visiting distance is the ancient city of Aphrodisias. Dedicated to the goddess of love Aphrodite, it dates back to the Bronze Age.
Altinkum Aqua Park is only 15 minutes drive away from the apartments.
Or for a bigger water park try Adaland in Kusadasi - 50 minutes drive away or book an organised trip. Adaland has 25 acres of waterslides, lazy rivers and wave pools.
You can also find many picturesque beaches, natural coves and bays in the region.
Further afield
Pamukkale (which translates as Cotton Castle) is one of the most extraordinary natural wonders in Turkey. The spectacular landscape is the result of thermal limestone springs solidifying into what look like bizarre white frozen waterfalls with masses of pools.
Close enough to reach by car or an organised trip are Lake Bafa, Akköy village, Söke market, Kusadasi market, Miletos and Priene. Larger towns nearby include Izmir, Bodrum and Dalyan or you could take a trip to the Greek island of Samos.
Akbuk is a quiet little town set amongst forests and olive groves with many small beaches and bays. It is said to have the highest oxygen ratio and the lowest humidity of Turkey and is about 18km from Altinkum.
